Two young Spaniards have created ‘Airhopping’ – a new start-up that aims to replace Interrail with air travel. It is a flight search engine that offers several combinations of 15 day trips with three stops for only €150. You can fly from any of six Spanish airports, and have a choice of 20 European destinations. Airhopping works directly with several European airlines – particularly the low cost ones. The targeted audience has an average age between 18 and 30, but users of any age can log on to this service and book trips for a minimum of two people, or up to a maximum of nine.
Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Malaga or Mallorca are the cities from which you can travel with Airhopping. So far the most requested itineraries are Copenhagen > Budapest > Berlin and Milan > London > Brussels. The two young entrepreneur/owners say that their next step is to include accommodations in the final price. Their aim is to make European travel accessible to everyone in a way that is more economical, comfortable and faster than the traditional Interrail pass.
